It used to be that when Japanese players came to the league they were mostly just pitchers that couldn’t hit and nobody expected much from them. Hideo Nomo was the first one I remember and he was exceptional throwing several no hitters but he wasn’t the total package like Ohtani.

This the clubhouse leader for thr greatest hitting baseball game in history. Someday a player will hit 5, or 6, home runs in one game. Maybe we can have a debate then, but this Ohtani performance is the current leader. The interesting part to me: the game was well in hand after his first home run, so he clearly decided to swing for the fences on HRs 2 and 3. Which should make us wonder how many home runs he could hit in a season if he decided to take that approach at every plate appearance. 80? 90?
