He looks like a character from The Office
- @440s 1
Templeos way better
- @Ape... 1
why he holding his teeth like that .
Nothing but the RESPECT for this master!
Read it as "My First Line of Coke" lol
- @hug00l 1
Fk linux, TempleOS all the way!!
- @sgt92 1
Productivity YouTubers should learn something from the desk set up 😁😁
10 print "Sara is the best" Linus Torvalds: That sounds very unlikely
I am not judging but old programmers prefer light mode
Linus - the best, of the best, of the best. He has changed the world (for the better). Linux has had as much, if not more, of an impact on the world as the internal combustion engine.
why don't computer scientists get awards, Linus changed the world with linux
Computer Scientists get awards, very prestigious ones actually (like the Turing award), which immediately make you a genius in the eyes of everyone in the field. But Linus is not really a computer scientist, he just created some of the most influential software to date. Not doubt he is a legendary software engineer but a computer science (scientist) is an academic field that requires research or a novel theoretical concept.
+1 using light mode
c'est nul
"you can write code that looks beautiful, but doesn't actually fix the problem... which is why i'm still doing the same project 25 years later" ffs all this time, he's just making art T_T
Got recommended randomly after 10 years!... Am I the only one??
i thought that its: my first line of coke..
Linus Torvalds and Lionel Messi... the greatest there have ever been and the greatest there will ever be
His first line. Println fck you nvidia
I thought that this said "My First Line of Coke: Linus Torvalds" at first and I was not at all surprised.
‘Hello world’
I'm sure Linus had at least three or so expletives in that first line of code...
so, this guy must be the founder of the infamous Linus Tech Tips, right?
-"So, what was your first line of code?" Bill Gates: "Idk. Ask that guy, he made windows for me."
- @2vagner 1
I love this
An absolute legend ❤
😎😎😎😎😎😎👌👌👌👌👌👌
A man worked so hard to make an amazing piece of software, comes another company to make it a nightmare to use and enjoy without digging for solution all the time for unnecessary issues, thank you, Nvidia.
He is doing a Tom Scott cosplay
Thanks for Linux !
3 keyboards, 1 monitor, 1 computer. makes sense.
Boys with autism:
i don't know but don't even want to look at code written by me 1 month ago, even if i muster myself to look it i just can't understand it. this guy maintaining same code for 25 years now. I need tremendous improvement.
for second, i though he was Tom Scott from the future
this dude giving 'the bird'!
- @vpk2000 1
Surprising linus looks at the keyboard while typing
his sister was hot
- @zin_yes 1
My first line of coke
He brought us Linux so we could type “sudo rm -rf /*”
Front end devs with 3 monitors - Torvalds, kernel dev - 1 monitor ... lol
This guy is fucking jerk
People don't know how many things they use run Linux
Should be a Nobel candidate
- @kitgary 1
I wonder if he can pass the google software engineer interview
There's no hacking OS without Linux OS, and there's no Linux OS without Linus Torvalds. Of course there's no Linus Torvalds without me HAHAHA just kidding 😝
- @ecerejo 1
I thought I saw yum in his screen!!!! He runs fedora.
love his desk
LOL WHAT A LOSER
Idiot
He can say all of these, but as a someone who's done various languages including the C line, C programming is the Apex in terms of difficulty It's been quite some time but I can never grasp the numbers required in writing a C program dealing with memory allocation. It's not as easy as he makes it out to be
Do you know what really impresses me? That Linux was never advertised or if it was advertised, for sure it wasn't aggressive advertisement like other companies do. And although Linux is not advertised, It's still a very popular operating system among many people including professionals. There are companies that have BUILDINGS FULL OF SERVERS running entirely on Linux. ... this says something, doesn't it?
you know he's relatable when he says the word autistic with not a care that somebody finds it offensive lol
1 man made a OS just for fun, amazing genuis
- @iAshu21 1
Really enjoyed this quick trip down memory lane with the VIC-20. It's humbling to see how even the creator of Linux started with such simple BASIC loops.
- @rye2n 1
Btw his sister was hot.
You are awesome
- @newq 1
"Maybe I'm autistic or something." says famous Finnish programmer Linus Torvalds, inventor of the Linux kernel, while wearing a Carhartt shirt, sweat pants and white socks.
0:18 already starting BASED
*NO* , he's the *ORIGINAL* *CREATOR!!!!*
Linus added Kernel to GNU. When he started Linux, GNU was almost complete. This is a common error people think that he wrote Linux, Linux is his kernel + GNU tools.
Terry is better
"You can really tell computer what to do and it will do what you tell it and nothing more" This is both a blessing and curse
Can Linus really not touch type?!
"idk maybe I'm autistic or something" - Linus Torvalds
For some reason he struck me as being a hunt and peck type of guy.
His keyboard is very noisy!
Am I the only one think Linus looks like a chubby penguin? Jokes aside I really love and admire this guy.
I want a movie about Linus's live starring Steve Carell. Hollywood please make it happen
>doesn't use dark mode and he calls himself a real programmer???
@syndern-c9h That's what being in a well-lit room and taking a break every once in a while is for.
@alfredomulleretxeberria4239 It's not for haxx0r aesthetics, it's to not burn your eyes
Only fakers use haxx0r aesthetics.
Talk is cheap 😉 Now give me the code ....
My first line of coke.
my first line of code haven't compiled
- @12-tech 1
From now on instead of “Hello World”, I will do “Sara is the best” 😄
santos bacalaos, es el jefe
"I don't know, maybe I'm autistic or something" -- The creator of linux
Linus: _talks about reading code_ Video: _shows compiler_
this dude is a legend, along with other OGs like dennis ritchie and richard stallman for example, who pioneered so many things used today and most people dont even know who tf they are. instead people bow down to stupid douche hacks like steve jobs and zuckerbot. disgusting
- @lhd7105 1
Gosh, not familiar with this keyboard.. does anyone recognize make/model?
Nerd
My 1st line of code was import turtle. Lol
Would love to know what line of code that he wrote early on that is still in the Linux source code. That would be very cool.
so that's why minecraft has "20 GOTO 10" splash text
super nerd
Vic-20 (thumbs up)
This guy is nothing compared to Terry A Davis.
Ikr
Who else read the word "code" as "coke"? 😅
This video is gold. Thank you!
What keyboard is he using in the beginning of the video?
- @Kolko7 1
This is PlDОRАS
What a monster he must be stopped !
What WM / DE is that?
Jonathan Danna He uses fedora with gnome3
Android Best probably he's still using fedora
Jonathan Danna Pretty sure thats Gnome 3
Articus Pengwin Yeah....but what distro???
yeah...I guessed that too
coding is hard.. at least he is honest unlike mark zuckerberg and bill gates
My brain cant even comprehend that Linus alone, in his room, made a better os, that pretty much keeps the whole internet stable and alive, than Microsoft, a multi-billion dollar company with thousands of workers...
I really can't imagine a person that dislikes this video.
Terry would've disliked the video
A windozer probably could do it. :)
Aha! He uses OpenSUSE
You Sir, are my hero. Thank you for everything.
My First Line Of Co... Code
Linux is godly, this man did a good job! P.S, you aren't a progammer unless you have a mechanical keyboard! That's just fact! Never seen a proper programmer not have one :)
0:56 This is so Finland-Swedish, out in the Skerry!
respect
This man is richest than Musk.. and I dont know the other guys name. 😅 But you got the point !
Musk is much more rich wdym
He invented something that can't be replaced or can be dead by anytime
Coding in light mode
Linus Torvalds does use white theme, unlike most programmers these days.
Looks like vanilla Adwaita.
Linus uses emacs?
Yes
Happy Birthday Linus Torvalds! 🎂 🎉
Can someone tell me what Language is 10's and 20's? I've never heard of that. This is definitely Pre-C code.
As he said, BASIC.
Adam Smith Basic
He is a SAGE
My first line of code is (!DOCTYPE html)
wtf downrated this???
Bill Gates
So he's a clever dick .
Such a minimal setup...people doing lotless have 4 monitors.... truly a legend...
Ow finaly finnaly we know this . Linus torvalds is using Gnome
Is that you Sam Hyde?
"Look no hands" shirt is peak
Have you ever just LOOK at daddi and decide, "daddi is replace sturgeon?" No/? FUCK YOU. ASSHOLE
One of legends in this Planet !
This dude is the anti steve jobs! And i love it
- @peep39 1
We had all kinds of neat computers in the 80s as well. Had a Commodore 64 which we loved, and of course we had the speech synthesizer program and made it say all kinds of obscene, hilarious things. I work as a software developer now and those obscene things are still with me, just mostly contained to my head these days
Anyone know what keyboard he is using ?
You are legend sir ❤🔥
Linux Torvalds is my idol. Man can be make, a huge fortune. But he want code to be open close to somebody can add some think to his work Hero.
sara is the best
He has biblically accurate posture while coding
0:42 he looks like he's 30 yo
It wasn't my first code, but it was the first code I saw whith my own eyes back in the 80 in the school's Computer Lab.
You can tell the computer what exactly to do and nothing more. Well, speculative execution is on the other hand XDD (Sorry for the shitty comment)
my first line of code print("Hello World!")
Omg, Linux HQ
- @kiba3x 0
You are a great man. Linux is awesome, thank you.
- @vlolxd 0
Thanks Linus you are truly the best!
I tought he used opensuse Gnome on his PC
he is using windows
tom scott verison 2
He seems like a master procrasinator who just enjoy being a celebrity
0:19 Is that true?
he is imposter their is windows logo on the F9 key
My first line of coke: Rusell Brandt
He is real legend.🎉🎉
A few times in the past, an Ubuntu kernel broke my computer and had to reinstall. Who is at fault, the Ubuntu community?
I read the title as "My First Line of Coke"
There must be Nobel Prize for Software and Linus Torvalds AND Bill Gates must have Nobel Prize for Software.
你好,世界上最能装逼的人!
I don't even remember my first line of coke anymore.
linus is the original red shirt guy
I'm surprised he calls himself "Linus" as it is pronounced in English and not in Finnish (would be something like "Lean oos" (oo aa in loops)). I mean that's how your mom, dad, friends, his sister everyone called you for 30 years of your life, since you were born
Wait I thought he only uses make and not cmake
git init!
0:05 - 8 years later: the machine hallucinates
Holy mother of linux..
Thank you for sharing!
Those keyboard typing is music to my ear
"Idk maybe i'm autistic" this may be the funniest thing said in a straight face.
He works with a single monitor?
It makes a lot of sense, it helps to focus - fewer distractions. I've used 2 monitors for a long time, now back to 1.
0:05 which keyboard is that anyone??
Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid
Most likely CM Storm from Cooler Master. I have one and the printings on the function keys row is very similar.
the Command line works only on Windows !!
Ah yes...the BASIC scrolling routine...
It's a shame that I have never heard of him before and it s just pure luck that I met with his name.
I admire this man so much!!
I think Linus must be an exceptional genius if he can just "see code and know what it does". It's generally not quite that easy for the rest of us!
The legend. The rockstar. The wizard.
He has the same keyboard as I do lol
what editor does he use?
uemacs, his own fork ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/software/editors/uemacs/
His own
If you started with BASIC, we all had the same first 2 lines of code. Followed by learning a for loop so it would stop after x number of prints.
- @polamin 0
Wtf he uses single monitor!
Did you also think it is Gordon Ramsey when you saw the thumbnail?
what the keyboard model please?
- @de132 2
CM Storm QuickFire Rapid
Какой он комфортик 🐥
420 BLAZE IT!!!!!
Absolute LEGEND
Linux will always be my favourite. :)
CM Storm QuickFire Rapid, nice keyboard
- @SA77888 0
10 print " something " 20 print goto 10 were my first lines of code too.......they were also my last.

The Man , the Myth, the Legend
Is that really how he types when coding? Wow he has to look at the keyboard when typing, that tells me that he doesn't type alot if that's how he handles the keyboard. Also I still cannot get over the fact that Linux is a copy of Unix so what did he invent or create again?
You cannot judge somebody's coding ability or how much they type by their typing style. Linux is not a copy of Unix, this makes no sense, Unix is closed source, so the literal process of copying Unix would be impossible. Linux is inspired by and takes many properties of Unix and Unix based operating systems. However with your logic, we might as well say MacOS, FreeBSD, OpenBSD are all copied from Unix, and Android or ChromeOS are copies of Linux, this logic is flawed and does not make sense.
@dylanf7990 I have been doing software for more than 20 years and been coding for almost 20, so yes I can actually tell how intimate someone is with the computer and the keyboard by looking at the way they approach or handle the keyboard. People who code and type daily are more comfortable with the keyboard, and that's part of being productive....it just comes with the tasks and naturally I guess. Just like watching a professional basketball or soccer player and you would tell that they are not the random average Joe just by how they handle the ball and maneuver themselves in the field. This guy (Linus) was never convincing to me or made an impact on me when I see him talking, he can't teach you a thing and magically anything he touches is somehow a copy of something else (Linux copy of Unix, Git copy of Bitkeeper and mercurial...etc). Line him up next to lets say: Uncle Bob or Gosling or Stroustrup or Fowler or wozniak or Ritchie or Bloch or even Gates.......etc, would you pick him?
I can only eat pasta and pringles and I'm sick of it When can I eat something different? My Masters Degree in Mathematics My PhD in Mathematics My Job in University of Galway Beibhinn Get rid of Lucia's dog Get rid of Lucia I need a place to live in Galway Where can I stay? Nana's House
I used Linux from Slackware 10 and never saw a picture of Linus until now.
- @a3-82 0
u are miracle in this path sir...
Genio!
Why cant we go back
What distro is he using?
Finallly one of the greatest programer who does not do touch typing
- @twkbtw 0
He could be autistic but definitely, he hasn't OCD. :)
- @KEEVVY 0
Like me scaning sourface of my laptop hard, I see all dots are green but still I won’t cancel & still want those dots to reach the end of the line
my was print("I hate the world!")
I thought it said "first line of coke"
his first line was a engine kernel hotfix on apollo 13 while in space
He looks like tom scoot in 50 years
inhuman
But did he make his own compiler
nope
Nope Terry did
Linus: Started seeing everything in Zeros and Ones Me: Realised am nothing but a Dunce They say coding is about practise and hard work. True. But I feel these guys just had it in them.
Mrs linus i wanna to be a programmers, but I'm begginer and I learn cs in bsc or undergraduated .what you can give me adivice to be a programmers?actually I proud of you.
Legend !
LEGEND
He be looking like Elon John
Why linux doesn't have his own movie.
- @schred 0
When he said "maybe I'm autistic or something", I didn't feel that.
NO MORE CS BANDWAGON VIDEOS THE FIELD IS SATURATED
linius smile when he talks btw liniux is his name with a x
My first programmcodes were also with BASIC together with my dad Josephson at the age of 6 on a MS-DOS. To mister Linus Torvalds Linux and Unix are speedable enough to me. Worked with those very pleasant. Kind regards Saskia F.J.H. van Houtert engineer/office-manager. Date: 23 june 2023, time: 05:48
Legend
My first line was Apple Basic on an Apple 2. Now I am an EA who knows every lang, but prefer C lang. Rust is ok too, but not near as mature as C
1:50 he is talking about 'C' but the mejority of the visuals show versbose output of some program. oopsy.
He’s building Subsurface, his scuba diving program
Linus : You really can tell the computer exactly what to do and it will do what you tell it. That doesn’t happen in normal life. I know Linus, i know. I told my wife to make me a sandwhich and she told me to do it my self.
He probably bought all that stuff at the thrift store. What a simple guy.
I started with a network attacker project, didn't know Hello World was a thing. Lol
I like his desk setup
Linus what the fuck is that desk bruhh.
What is the keyboard that he is using? What brand?
i swear to god i will never betray the linux club and buy a mac or something.
Hail to Linux
if michael scott was a programmer this would be it
I was too stupid for a "print string", I just used "Load" ^^
Watching this on linux. Thanks legend
اسطورة ^^
Thanks for sara , now we have one of best os cauz of her
you are badass but bill gates is the richest in the world
Which is the mechanical keyboard he uses?
it's hard to write the code
what keyboard is that?
Hero being portrait as weird, we can clearly see this crazy flat desk/neck shots, like it it's something unusual to have mess on desk, and have less perfect cinematic shape. Please Bloomberg, not everyone is pixel perfect like you.
What a legend
thought sam hyde started coding from the thumbnail
am I seeing .cpp files ???
I thought he was going to be a little penguin.
How do I customize XFCE to make my own distro?
My personal hero.
Hero
what's linux distro,,he use?
TempleOS
he is working for CIA
Same as I. Except a semi colon makes it into lines of instead of screens of. Wish I'd kept at it.
He looked 25 at 12 lol.
why is this guy using a very basic and cheap keyboard?? :O
That's a Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid, it's discontinued now but it was over 100€ MSRP when new. Not basic and not cheap.
It's not the keyboard that matters, it's what you type.
Mechanical keyboards aren't cheap
he is using nano, ha!
emacs
my first line of coke
One of the greatest mind in this era, calls hims Autistic
Linus used windows to code linux lel
what does authistic means ? i googled ut but didnt understand .
- @郭绍彤 0
why mask is not in a surprise of any fatari?
its so strange that linux founder is typing using index fingers
This guy is a genius they created the best kernel of world
His smile is nightmare fuel.
Random useless fact: Linus Torvalds was 6 years old when Steve Jobs founded Apple.
He is using Fedora with a GNOME desktop environment.
anyone notice he don't even know touch typing ...,
Damn get this boy a key with fancy lights and monitor as big as a swimming pool....
Not a Bill Gates but still a great programmer!
If I'm not mistaken, that looks like a razer black widow tenkeyless. But what's even funnier is that he completely rubbed out the windows logo from the windows key haha
I have this razer keyboard and thought the 2 keyboards sounded similer. I have been meaning to 3d print a blank or Linux themed key in place of the windows key.
Linus, The LEGEND 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
10 Print Hello Run 0
- @Tux0xFF 0
video thumbnail looks pretty bad, looks like a fat guy eating pizza at a chucky cheese
I tap.into your programming and logical reasoning. .. amen. Bless up torvalds
Tarry Davis
I loved the VIC-20 and the C-64. Still have my original C-64. I love BASIC.
What OS is running on Linus's Desktop ?
The last line he said , it is hard to write code ..that is Linus Torvalds - founder of LINUX
Harold Finch from the person of interest series is similar to this guy . Wow
Anyone has an idea about the keyboard make and model?
It is a Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid
10000
sudo apt-get install linus, sara && ./marriage Error from OS: I told him but it's Too late Bro
Thank you for linux...
Linux , Windows, IOS, and Android Which is which?
can any one help me how to create Code Like linus torvalds Print like "SARA IS THE BEST"
Amigo te adoro.⚘
He forgot the semi-colon. 10 print "Name goes here" ; 20 goto 10
basic doesn't need semicolon
Reading code is like reading math
The parsimonious drain subsequently cover because daughter neuropathologically suspend beside a screeching acoustic. silent, kaput meeting
Weird. He's changed the way he pronounces his name. There used to be an audio file in the kernel source tree. I think it was sample.wav or something like that. To test your sound card after installing it was traditional to play that sound file. It was Linus saying "Hello I am Linus Torvalds an I pronounce Linux Linux". Linus rhymed with Linux.
No the reason Linus is still working on the project is because Microsoft, Apple etc keeping stealing all the best talent for their own economic gain.
Why his neck is like a f1 racer?
nobody: Linus Torvalds: "Idk maybe I'm autistic or something"
This guy motivates me. Everything is possible.
Finland
Because the computer does exactly what you tell it, it means problems you encounter are due to your own errors. It's a harsh but fair judge of your skill. If you enjoy improving, you can spend endless amounts of time trying things and improving.
@poleve5409 Not sure why you've gotten off on a tangent here or made it personal. try to understand my point. Just noting how enjoyable computer programming is because most problems are you own, and you're forced to face them. Note I'm talking about "pure" programming as in exercises you might do to learn about data structures, etc.
okay gblargg I'm sure you're a nasa scientist who never makes mistakes And when collaborating with other people it's not always your fault, any seasoned programmer knows this.
- @stdrice 0
tf linus torvalds uses a blue switches gaming keyboard???
The boss doesnt use RGB keyboard to impress peoples
No
- @czcore 0
Genius.
This guy is a mith!
A genius in life
and he hates C++? but why
keyboard songs so beautiful
His desk looks like mine but that's where the resemblance ends. I really wished I had taken a more passionate interest in programming in school. I remembered when the class gave us a book on Turing, it was so daunting.
code name: Cody Cigar
Damn, like ma, my first computer was an Commodore, as well and my first lines of Code i wrote also with 11 or 12, because the learning book shipped with the Commodore had also coding lessons inside, the Code was Basic as well. Damn , I should have keep on since then.
Humble guy, great mind.
A legend beyond legends
Original G
yea linus doesn't get enough credit tbh.
Very underrated, he deserves much more recognition.
Hello World!
I just wonder if this guy made linux a proprietary software, and began capitalising where would be he by now?.. We might never see android, ubuntu and what not.
The first thing he says is the most finnish thing I have ever heard
Funny he mentioned the VIC-20, as the first PC we had in the house was a Commodore 64. And it still works as of today. (We go this computer in the early 2000s though its from the early 80s.)
he was doing something with qt
Is that an RGB gamer keyboard? Is this his secret?
Yes. That is a Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid
Need Steve Carell to play Torvalds in a biopic
A true legend.
He using Emacs.
The day games start to work on Linux is the day where windows will fucking die.
this guy is such a friggin legend!
Mac is linux!
Maybe new OS 11 is not based on Unix, but 10.5 to 10.9 use Unix! and get the certification from "opengroup"
Unix is not Linux and you clearly stated Mac is Linux.
Been sniffing something?
Gordon Ramsay.
this guy is a bad actor.... RICHARD STALLMAN is the man youre looking for
Linus is still the goat
i dont know him and i dont care about him
They were both equally important, Stallman influenced linuses open source mindset
It has to be "printf("hello world") without doubt
The LINUS TORVALDS !!!!!!!!
benevolent dictator for life
The Living Legend. ❤
吃这么肥了小时候挺帅的
That moment when you realise Linus the GOAT uses a light-color-theme....
linus@unixbox $sudo apt install linux
Why did he pronounce his name in English? He's a Fin.
Sorry, I just can't trust 100% a guy who still uses desktops on top of a table, instead of the comforts of the laptop and, more importantly, the lack of shoulder pain and carpal tunnel syndrome
- @DaSnipy 0
Living Legend
Mine was moving a rectangle on the screen with GameMaker Studio 2, it was epic.
He's wearing the same shirt he used at the DebConf talk
mine was @echo off i used to do batch a lot i have kinda forgot most of it i mostly use python now
He’s trying to impress Sara with coding skill. Nice job bro 👍
there's something about coding which only true programmer can feel and understand.....the feeling when u code...that happiness...that passion...that moment when u feel like u r living that code u r see it happening visual though it's only text... it's just a divine feeling for a programmer...it makes forget any other thing happening outside in the world...u become part of it...and the end...a program is discreet and complex piece of text which is the proof of the love a true programmer..!!!
Think you have been watching too many kung fu films. I have never been part of my code and wouldn't want to be. Never written code that I wouldn't have written differently 6 months later.
He making kernel and call it linux kernel
Hey look its tom scott
That is the real programmer computer set up
Only watched to see if he used Windows.
Hail Unix
that blind typing tho 😤
Linus uses Gnome 3!!!!!
Linus could now start over again so he could avoid all of the errors we now know all operating systems have
Bill and Steve, IT Entrepeneur. Linus, IT Revolutionist. Devote themsleves to make our world better and better, together with substainable growth.
Code your computer to clean your desk

"IT IS HARD TO WRITE GOOD CODE." For all those shouting their balls off to write perfect code, suck on with your lives. :)
Now I know why linux's logo is a Penguin
“Hello Word”
ensimmäinen bugi ja ei vieläkään korjattu xD
just spotted this golden egg
I didn't know Sam Hyde started Linux
Nvidia
25 years later, he still doesn't know how to type properly. His kernel is blasting though.
- @bod3581 0
I can't be then only one who read the title as "My first line of coke". Slightly disappointed tbh
It does what you tell it to do and nothing more. It really shows he was tired of woman.
linus is the guy from where the hollywood gets its computer nerd steriotype
Legend.
"The computer will do exactly what you tell it to" - apart from when it's speculatively executing code you didn't ask it to. Right, Intel?
important to note is that someone at intel wrote the microcode, too. Thats why they got lambasted in the LKML by Linus.
Acaba hangi dağıtımı kullanıyor?
Is he trying to make half life 3?
😱 OMG, he looks exactly like me in his 12 yo pic and adulthood pic. Found one doppelganger. I'm still very young though...!
0:56 looks like be, but with a bad taste of fashion...
git gud
Well done Linus :) 10 PRINT "Hi Paul Oram :)"; 20 GOTO 10;
This what Tom Scott do when finally become adult.
He sounds like a control freak. Wonder how he treats her wife.
You tell someone to do something and these mf do whatever they feel like doing which of course is not what you wanted them to do. I loved it when I go to McDonalds and ask for a Hot Mocha and they give me an Iced Frappe just bc they felt like it; fuck people.
What a guy
I cant believ he still has to tke a look at the keyboard towrite some code
- @arwildo 0
Thank you Legend!
My first code allowed me to move three buttons left and right one step <[b][b][b]> ^__^. Then I got carried away with deep customization of advanced 3D models) C++ / Phython and why I didn't choose a different pill)
Linux original creator
"idk maybe i'm autistic or something." I love this guy already xD
1:22 story of every siblings
Well Linus actually needs mechanic keyboard because when he goes to computer he probably writes a lot of code... I think.
plump old Tom Scott
Linus sister is HOT
Whoever this guy is, he needs to clean up his desk. Who uses text on screen to do work? Anyways, anyone heard of Apple or Word? Or Bill Gates? Bill Gates invented a progrom so we didn't have to type in all these useless commonds.
Have you heard of Android? He only developed a major part of the most popular mobile operating system on the planet.
He looks somewhat like Don Draper
The way he talks reminds me of Dr. Strangelove.
I am autistic and also a computer geek. I also claim irl not to be autistic. I am weird
He is rich -well, not super rich, but still has a healthy amount of money. Yet he sits in a room that looks like my first apartment.
thank you
I misread it as My First Line of *Coke*
Is it his workplace, amazing how simple is he.
listened to your voice and guitar live today and asked you about your info and here i am , it was really awesome and this cover is too. u have a very special voice. hope to see more from u in the future. :) :D
Did this guy just admit he was a sex offender in High School?
- @Screlon 0
I thought this guy was Gus Johnson from the back
10 PRINT "LINUS IS THE BEST" 20 GOTO ...............
Super cheap Ikea desk. Impressive.
Mechanical keyboard 👍
you c code
printf("Truly a MAD PROGRAMMER!");
I wish IT legends like Linus get more recognition. Instead we get business people like Steve Jobs getting hailed as IT genius.
7 years ago i had a big misconception that i need a high end and expensive Computer to be a Programmer/softwareEngineer .
Interesting, Tech Tips is not the only last name of linus
Didn't know that Steve Carell was behind Linux
so, what OS does he use?
are you telling me that THE Linus Torvalds types like that?! 🤔
And now Linus will also be replaced by AI...
- @120M 0
Linus, you are not autistic, you are just finnish.
to someone like me that always had an interest in computers but never had the urge to learn any programming language, programming looks like an arcane ability to me. its insane how people can make sense of it.
How could you did all those things without googling
My first program was complex number division to reproduce how the ear hears. I fail.
I took a very simple class in college! Was really hard for me! I knew I was not a programmer lol!
It’s funny to hear “computer will do it and nothing more” when you know about all those side channels vulnerabilities like Spectre. Ok, leaving Intel’s meltdowns aside — even compilers can produce a lot of code you didn’t ask them to add. Don’t idealise computers hence — they’re made by humans too. )
They do exactly what you tell them to do. That's a problem with how the program works. Compilers don't really count because humans make those.
my first line of code was 10 PLOT 100,100
draws a pixel
Never was a Linux user, but hat's off to this guy
I also would like to impress girls with my programming skills. Being serious, this guy is legendary.
Un grosso el amigo Linus, tiene un completo desorden en su escritorio pasándose por el arco del triunfo toda la idea del minimalismo a la que tienden muchos developers hoy por hoy, con sus espacios de trabajo al máximo orden posible .XD
Hero!
welcome to linux head quater
0:11 "Nothing more"? What about bugs?
legend . i used basic for abit when i was ten . should have kept it up .
This guy types like a amateur :)
Esse cara é muito bom
of course he uses blue switches of course
Иди работай ботан кампьютерный тяжилей кнопки и не поднимал сука уже наверное и ходить не умеет
95% of the world is because of this man.
coding with Gabicci polo... yeah !
Proud of you Mr. Linus Torvalts as a small programmer.👏👏
Legend
"Creating a beautiful code that does Solve the problem" - Linux Trovalds
Tom Scott after many Lohikeitto
How does he make money?
Thank you for this video, very enlightening!
Explain how Linux is better than windows to an absolute noob?? Pls..😑
Because it's customizable so it can be made really easy, if some else does it for you. For example Chrome OS and Android are both Linux.
This guy definitely answer sof questions in a thesis form
He wrote the Linux kernel at 21 Me at 21 : System.out.println("hello world")
Laith Rafidmy bad
Why is nobody talking about the clutter?
first thing I noticed is that he's not a touch typer. I thought that was interesting, I just assumed everyone who works in tech uses touch typing. I'm trying to learn it, but I'm not getting faster, I've always been a 2-3 per hand typist. Some people say it's necessary, some say it's not.
let's worship a fraud as jobs was
I tried weaker and stronger gotos but "20 GOTO 10" was the best. "20 GOTO 20" didnt work. And other values crashed.
Look! No hands.
- @LT72884 0
Windows for the win!
I was reading :"My first line of coKe" ...
"Talk is cheap. Show me the code"
He looks like tom scott
He had a problem and started solving it. He's still doing that it seems. I would like to believe that all the other stuff that comes with that: fame etc, is fun, but a distraction from the main task of solving the problem. A man to be admired for staying on task even with all the distractions. Yes I remember doing the repeat print in BASIC back in the day. It was a NASCOM at school.
The mess on the table represents the mess in the kernel?
Thank you so very much sir because of Linux it changed my life I wouldn't be here without Linux ♥️🤘
He could be a super rich like bill gates ...🔥
This guy killed Unix and replaced it with a big pile of bugs. Nice job!
Linux is not Unix, nor a replacement for Unix. Linux had gone where Unix could never have gone.
What distro is he using in the video ?
That short? Is there a full length version of the interview?
RESPECT
For a brief moment I thought the title was 'My First Line of Coke'.

Hello World 😎
Mafia in the house
okay he is the real man
Wwhy youtube send me this video after 10 years!
He'll be so sad when sentient AI becomes reality...
What is his nationality ?
- @mauigio 2
Ghassen Smaoui You mean his ethnicity? NATIONality means where you claim your citizenship. You know, NATION? Usually where you were born. Many people get this confused. Nationality, ethnicity, and race are 3 very different things, but people lump them together.
He is Finnish.
Turkka Uotila Torille ->
Arpad Szijgyarto Nope, he's not Swedish. He speak Swedish because he grew up in the Swedish speaking parts of Finland(wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish-speaking_population_of_Finland). He's Finnish American. He moved to The States like 20 years ago
Turkka Uotila A swedish finnish. ;)
- @fooey88 5
Ghassen Smaoui Could've Googled that you know.
Ghassen Smaoui Swedish minority in Finland
+Ghassen Smaoui He's been american citizen since 2010.
legend
Why was he working on the debian install script in the background if he thinks it's too hard to install?
Buddy had a desk treadmill before it was popular
id the keyboard please? anyone?
- @de132 1
CM Storm QuickFire Rapid
Respect sir🙏🙏🙏
but have you written a compiler though ?
_"SARA IS THE BEST"._ Adorable.
- @zl0y 0
ThankU Linus!
What is the keyboard model he is using?
Are we gonna ignore the fact that he has a light theme?
That guy's desk is a bit messy.
Fun Fact: Linus created Git as a side project to store his main project(Linux) code. Now, that main project and side project is too big that 98% of servers and 2.5 Billion Android phones around the world run on Linux, and every company uses Git to store their code.
Code really is like any regular language. I like being able to look at code in media and actually figure out what it does, like how someone that speaks a different language might translate foreign text. It's especially fun when the stuff breaks, because it usually exposes the system's insides and what they use. Crashed/erroring kiosks are always fun, because they all use different things and fail at different stages. Usually it's a Windows BSOD, but I've also seen corrupted file systems and C# null reference exceptions (one of them dealt with reflection) on public systems.
I actually dislike Linus and Linux So Linux, Fuck you
I still remember my first line of code: 10 print "Glen Rules"; 20 GOTO 10; RUN
So Linus uses Emacs... Vim ftw!
read "My first line of coke"
He's been trying to explain for years what the internet is!!!!!!👓😂
- @1ukah 0
acho que Linus é GAY
Print('\033[1;31mI wanna Become Just Like Linus')
Oh I read “My first line of coke”... It made more sense but oh well
- @mhalton 0
And he can't type fast!
Linus's life story is just like mine. But my little sister's the one that coded first 😂
It puts the lotion on its skin...
“Maybe” he’s autistic? “Borderline”? 😂🤣🤣🤣 He’s _definitely_ one of us.
- @MNJaime 0
c++ sucks!
He also created Github
No, he created Git
the best thing is that i'm named afetr him.
un genio assoluto
- @sudogem 0
I'm wondering what Linus Torvalds do during this 2020 Covid19 pandemic?
Math is a natural language, can Programming Codes be written by it?
Which Windows version does Linus Torvalds have installed? 🤔
He probably has to use Windows for something
This dude is too proud of himself, it's no fun
My first line of coke
Bless me for my success 🙏🔥🇮🇳
Hah! He's right. My first program was an infinite loop, too. I don't remember what it printed to the screen. I thought he was going to say it was a "hello world" program, but that's probably not really all that common except in textbooks.
It will do What you tell it. That's so long as you haven't put a bug in it. I know exactly What you know about Technology. Your talking to Cyberman. Not Richard Dysan.
You heard him guys it is hard to write codes
You ever feel alone afraid people won't accept you in the beginning? I feel like that.. Happy fathers day Linus.
I hope ukrain and ru use linux and fb and twitter dice
Imagine he uses Windows secretly in his house.
It always baffles my mind when genius developers type like they're 5 years old.
Linus come back we need you
Lets be honest we rewatch this to know what switches he uses.
pretty sure you need a colon at the end of the print statement to remove the newline character and get it to scroll across the screen....
It seems every programming legend started when they were 11
what is the font at 1.38 ?
+3FYT DejaVu Mono I would guess.
who knew L-anus Torvalds was a brain dead wokie?!
You can write a code which looks beautiful, but it actually doesn't solve the problem. That's true .
His grandfather owning a computer can tell you a lot.
Nice family story.
Guys, we can't let the sjws take him out. They're aiming for his head 😥
decades later I'm still at print 'hello world'. :p
- @zadeh79 0
It's unlikely that people like this are only the result of high IQ (> 120). Linus likely also has mental specialization + aspergers....stuff that helps people spend an enormous amount of quality time going through empirical footwork.
my room the same him hehe
